HERSHEY FELDER, PUCCINI
World premiere live stream from Florence, Italy
Sunday, March 14 at 7pm CDST
Urbana, IL—Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is partnering with accomplished pianist, actor, and playwright Hershey Felder to present a March 14 world premiere of Felder’s newest work in a live video stream from Florence, Italy. The performance is a fundraiser for Lyric Theatre @ Illinois and Krannert Center, with all proceeds going to the Student Excellence Fund.
Felder has written and performed plays about notable composers, including George Gershwin, Frederic Chopin, Ludwig van Beethoven, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Claude Debussy.
His newest work, Hershey Felder, PUCCINI is the story of a young musician who loves opera, particularly Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly. When a series of unusual circumstances gives the young musician an opportunity to meet his musical hero, he’s uplifted by the secrets that are revealed.
Filmed and performed on location in Italy, in the very home where Puccini was born, the work features world-renowned opera stars baritone Nathan Gunn, soprano Gianna Corbisiero, and tenor Charles Castronovo, along with Felder. Lyric Theatre co-director and Swanlund Chair, Professor Nathan Gunn will join Felder live from Florence.
