The Champaign Center Partnership and event sponsor, the Illini Union, are pleased to present Chow Down in Campustown onThursday, May 31 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. This free event to launch the 13 Thursdays summertime promotion of Campustown includes food samples at participating restaurants, sidewalk sale shopping, and family-friendly programming including Chalk the Quad and an outdoor movie on the Quad at 9pm.
“We are so excited to welcome the Chambana community to Chow Down in Campustown,” stated Elise Frost, Champaign Center Partnership Marketing and Events Coordinator. “Our committee has been hard at work the past few months to plan this event that showcases a variety of cuisines and fun activities the whole family will enjoy.”
Event check-in will open at 3:30 p.m. on May 31st at the JSM kiosk on Green Street (next to McDonald’s) and at the Alma Mater. Pick up your event wristband, map and passport at one of the check-in stations, then take a free, self-guided culinary tour through Campustown. Over 14 restaurants will feature food samples from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Evening programming includes sidewalk chalk art on the Quad and the Illini Union will show Peter Rabbit at 9:00 p.m. as part of its Summer Quad Cinema Series. The full Chow Down in Campustown event schedule is available at:Champaigncenter.com/chowdown-
Two-hour free parking validation tickets for the Campus Center Public Parking Deck will be available, while space is available, for Chow Down in Campustown attendees.
