Celebrate disABILITY! – A Music & Art Festival, sponsored by the disABILITY Resource Expo is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st, from Noon-3:00 p.m. at Lincoln Square in Urbana. October is National Disability Awareness Month, an excellent time to celebrate the gifts and talents of individuals with disABILITIES among us. Celebrate disABILITIES! is an event designed to do just that. This event is free and open to the public – plus, all attendees are invited to join us again this Spring, on April 7, 2018, for the disABILITY Resource Expo (9am-2pm at the Vineyard Church in Urbana.)
Celebrate disABILITY! will feature well-known local bands 90’s Daughter, plus Candy Foster & Shades of Blue. You’ll also hear up and coming young musicians from the First Gig Rock & Roll Kids’ Camp and the Penguin Project. You can visit the booths of numerous artisans, and if you like, purchase some art to take home. Between musical acts, we will honor several local “Champions of disABILITY Awareness.” And, a play area for young children will be available throughout the event, at Spark, near the Main Stage.
Our Main Stage, near the center of Lincoln Square, will feature the following Entertainment Schedule:
Noon – First Gig Rock N’ Roll Camp for Kids
12:40 p.m. – The Penguin Project: Songs from Mulan
1:00 p.m. – 90’s Daughter
2:00 p.m. – Special Awards
2:20 p.m. – Candy Foster & Shades of Blue
Lincoln Square is accessible and provisions have been made for sign language interpreters. Additional wheelchair accessible parking is being set aside for the day. This event is free and open to the public.
This event is made possible by the Champaign County Developmental Disabilities Board and Champaign County Mental Health Board.
